Location: Hardrians Wall Path
Date: 30th September 2017 x 2 days
ABOUT THE EVENT
This September myself and 30 determined trekkers will take on a great challenge hiking 40 miles of Hadrians Wall across two days. I will be using a handcycle as I’m recently struggling with my prosthetic leg and the rest of the team will be hiking the 40 hilly miles across two days. Monies raised will be split between my fund for prosthetics to enable me to golf, ski and cycle and the young person’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent who have supported me through my cancer journey.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
Money raised will go towards helping me get back doing the things I loved before cancer. For activites such a skiing, cylcing or running, advanced sports prosthetics are needed. Unfourtunately, these prosthetic legs aren’t available on the NHS as they’re classed as sports legs – something NHS England do not commision. It is for that reason that that I have to go and fund them privately. As with everything in prosthetics, these types of legs aren’t cheap and they cost tens of thousands to fund.
A donation from this event will also be made to CLIC Sargent to help support their vital work. Read more about CLIC Sargent here.
