How do you segment your liver?

- Right hepatic vein divides the right lobe into anterior and posterior segments.
- Middle hepatic vein divides the liver into right and left lobes (or right and left hemiliver).
- The Falciform ligament divides the left lobe into a medial- segment IV and a lateral part – segment II and III.
What is a CT cholangiogram?
A CT Cholangiogram is the injection of ‘Contrast’ (once called X-ray dye) into the bloodstream to look at the bile ducts. This Contrast is called Biliscopin®. When Biliscopin® is injected into your body it is removed by your liver into the bile.
Why is a PTC test done?
A PTC helps your doctor find out what might be causing your symptoms. You might have this test if your doctor thinks there is a blockage in your bile ducts. A blockage in the bile ducts can cause: yellowing of your skin and whites of your eyes.
Is the liver divided into segments?
The Couinaud classification divides the liver into 8 functional segments. The hepatic veins are found at the periphery of each segment, whereas the center has branches of the portal veins, hepatic arteries, and bile ducts. The middle hepatic vein divides the liver into left and right lobes.

How MRCP is performed?
How is MRCP done? MRCP is an outpatient procedure that involves lying very still in an MRI scanner for several minutes at a time. You do not feel anything while the scan takes place, although the machine is quite noisy. The entire experience should be over in less than 20 minutes.
Where is dye injected Cholangiogram?
A dye that blocks X-rays is injected into the common bile duct, and then you will have X-rays taken. You may have intraoperative cholangiogram to: Look for gallstones that may be in the common bile duct. Allow the surgeon to see the anatomy of the bile duct system from the liver to the small intestine.
How often do you flush a biliary drain?
You will need to flush your catheter with normal saline twice a day. Your doctor will tell you whether to use 3 mL, 5 mL, or 10 mL.
Can you shower with biliary drain?
How do I take proper skin care? Keep the skin around your biliary catheter dry. You can take showers if you cover the area with plastic wrap. Tape the edges of the plastic wrap to your skin so that water cannot get under it.
