What is a tipping fee for waste?
Tipping Fee or a gate fee is a fee paid by anyone who disposes of Waste in a Landfill. Usually this fee is based on the weight of waste per ton. This fee can be passed down to waste generator from landfill through fees or taxes.

From next month there will be limits on the number of times you can go to the tip. For car drivers it will be 52 times a year – an average of once a week – while, depending on the size of their vehicle, van drivers will be limited to either 12 or 18 visits a year.
Can I put car parts in a skip?
Can you put Car Batteries in a skip? No, batteries of any kind are not allowed, and that means that car batteries cannot be put in a skip. Batteries are full of chemicals and hazardous waste (including lead) which can be harmful, so should be recycled in collection boxes often found at supermarkets, and public places.

Do you still have to book a slot at the tip?
To visit one of our household waste recycling centres (HWRC) you must book a slot in advance. Following the Government’s announcement for the lifting of restrictions from 19 July, you will still need to book to access the sites, and will be able to visit the HWRCs to the same extent as before COVID restrictions.
Can I take a fridge to the tip?
Can I throw away an old fridge? Due to the hazardous elements contained within a fridge, it must be disposed of responsibly. Therefore, you cannot leave it on the pavement, hoping for the scrap man to take away and you may also struggle taking it to your local tip as not all tips accept them.
What skips Cannot take?
Items which can’t be thrown into a skip include asbestos, gas cylinders, animal waste, explosives, batteries, oil of any kind, chemicals, paint and glue, televisions, laptops, phones, electrical equipment, lighting and tyres.
Can empty paint tins go in a skip?
You cannot put hazardous or harmful items into a skip. These include but are not limited to TVs, computer monitors, asbestos, tyres, fluorescent tubes, fridges, paint and paint tins (unless empty), plasterboard, batteries, medical waste, gas cylinders, liquids, solvents, oil, petrol, diesel and explosives.
