What is Sensipar?
Cinacalcet is used to treat increased amounts of a certain hormone (parathyroid) in people with long-term kidney disease who are on dialysis. It is also used to treat increased amounts of calcium in people with an overactive parathyroid gland or in people with cancer of the parathyroid gland.

When should I take sensipar?
- Sensipar® is taken once a day in one of the 5 recommended daily doses. Sensipar® tablets should be taken whole.
- Take Sensipar® with food or shortly after a meal. Consider taking Sensipar® at the same time, with the same meal, every day.
- Take Sensipar® at least 12 hours before your PTH blood test.

Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of cinacalcet and gradually increase your dose, not more than once every 2-4 weeks. Cinacalcet may help control your condition but will not cure it.
